How Does Acupuncture Work?

Acupuncture is a form of medicine created by the Chinese thousands of years ago, and has been widely used in many countries ever since. Acupuncture is the art of healing by inserting hair-thin needles all over the body at certain specified points. These points (over 300 of them!), enable the body to start the healing process and to aid itself in alleviating pain, diminishing symptoms and clearing the mind.

Our bodies are like a roadmap containing many roads, tunnels and pathways. In Chinese medicine, these pathways are mapped out according to our internal organs. By inserting needles at certain points, a practitioner can manipulate energy to flow through these areas of the body. Energy moving through the body allows blood to flow freely without any blockages in its way. These blockages are what we call and experience as pain and other symptoms - whether it be in the mind, and/or body.

The body is an incredible thing. It is constantly under construction and is working 24/7 to allow us to live and function in this world. There are many struggles we face today in our outside world, but also within our inner-selves. Much of the miscommunication in our bodies results in negative feelings, impaired gastrointestinal (GI) health, weight gain, pain, and allergies. Acupuncture needles placed into certain areas of the body help the mind to better receive signals and cues from our nervous system, in turn helping to solve for these negative symptoms.

Health is having the body and mind in balance. Balance is what our bodies need to function properly and thrive. By receiving an acupuncture needle treatment, your body is one step closer to bringing itself back into balance! The needles encourage the body and mind to heal itself.

As a licensed acupuncturist, Tracy is able to read each unique body and create an individualized treatment plan to start each of you on your personalized journey towards natural health and balance!
